Who we are
We are the first startup from the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology
Graduate University (OIST) established on June 25, 2014. The company has
grown from advanced structural imaging technology developed by Professor
Ulf Skoglund of the OIST Structural Cellular Biology Unit.
What we do
Our technology is a unique combination of Cryo Electron Microscopy and
specifically designed 3D reconstruction program called COMET (Constrained
Maximum Entropy Tomography), which innovative algorithms enhance resolution,
producing relatively noise free reconstructions of target proteins.
Depending on customer’s needs we can produce different kinds of images,
from multiple tilted views from a specimen for 3D tomograms (individual
molecule visualization) to a large number of 2D images (for averaged reconstructions).
The new technology allows visualization of protein complexes and their
dynamics, serving as an alternative solution to the study of biological
samples that are difficult or impossible to crystallize.
Proteins that with conventional methods were unable to visualize, are now
easily reconstructed with our service.
Our mission is to become the world leader covering all Cryo Electron Microscopy
imaging services. To achieve this goal our staff is constantly improving
their skills and knowledge, while daily operations on Titan Krios and Talos
Arctica allow us to expand our experience.
It is very important for us that our customers are provided with the most
accurate technology available in the world.
